Cowlitz River Spring Chinook Fishing
The spring Chinook fishing on the Cowlitz River has been pretty good to fair over the last couple weeks. There were also a few steelhead being caught as well. We are getting reports of decent catch rates up at the Barrier Dam as well as the mouth of the Toutle.
Anglers are having success drifting eggs, beads, or corky, with scent. Bloody Tuna works well or eggs cured in Fire Brine or Zilla.
Fishing tactics that have been working well are side drifting roe, or back bouncing by boat if fishing from the bank, drifting or plunking eggs seems to be the ticket.
Now is the time to hit the Cowlitz for the spring Chinook season, this river can get pretty busy with spring salmon fishing guides and sports anglers as well, expect company.
